As promised, I will do my best to recap the final day in Pierre, South Dakota. All light construction and repair projects we set out to do are complete. As for VBS, I won't be able to adequtely convey what the team experienced this week. On Thursday, the final night, 48 of the total 50 children that attended this week were present; most with members of their family. Some sacrificed other obligations to be there. As the night came to an end, a slideshow was put to the instrumental music we sang all week. As the children watched pictures of themselves to the "Paul and the Underground Church" music, they spontaneously sang along. Praises to Jesus rang up from some who didn't have much, if any, an idea who He is until this week. Leaving the children I spent all week with, Bob and Debbie, and the members of Capitol Heights Baptist Church was painful. I pray that we see them again next year. Seeing some of the smaller children clutched to some of our team members after VBS was over is an image we won't soon forget. If anyone from Belden Baptist has any doubt about what our staff has been emphasizing, any member of the team will be happy to discuss it with you. It's about a relationship; it's about relationships. We saw it with our own eyes this week.
I am thankful for the number of children who heard the most important message they will ever hear this week. Capitol Heights Baptist Church has a well-defined mission feild as a result of God's work this week. Our prayers should be with them.
Thank you for the prayers this week.
We will be headed home in a few minutes. See you tonight.
